2015 is just around the corner and everyone wants the new year to be special and memorable. Here is a list of the top destinations for 2015 in no particular order, trips you can take to make this year worth remembering 🙂
1. Rome, Italy
It’s nicknamed the Eternal City for a reason. In Rome, you can drink from a street fountain fed by an ancient aqueduct. Or see the same profile on a statue in the Capitoline Museum and the guy making your cappuccino. (Which, of course, you know never to order after 11 am.) Rome is also a city of contrasts—what other place on earth could be home to both the Vatican and La Dolce Vita?
2. Beijing, China
Here, you’ll find a wealth of history, both ancient (the Hall of Preserving Harmony, Summer Palace, Forbidden City) and more recent (Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Tienanmen Square, Olympic City). From its bustling night life to its street markets this city has something to offer for everyone. Do factor in one day for a trip to the Great Wall of China, a true man-made wonder!
3. Istanbul, Turkey
Europe and Asia meet in Istanbul, where breathtaking ancient architecture coexists with modern restaurants and nightlife. The city’s mosques, bazaars, and hammams (Turkish baths) could keep you happily occupied for your entire trip. Start with the awe-inspiring Sultan Ahmet Camii (Blue Mosque), visible from many points of the city. Stroll the Galata Bridge and stop by the Miniaturk Park to see its tiny artifacts. The Grand Bazaar has thousands of shops to browse, while the Egyptian Bazaar is a fragrant trove of spices and fruits. With electronic visa for Indians now available, this is now a top destination for this year.
Iceland is gaining credibility as the “Hollywood of the North” after several blockbusters were shot there, including Oblivion, Prometheus and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Two of this year’s anticipated hits were also shot amid the lava fields and glaciers: Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi movie, and Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. Tick off the locations on a road trip along the spectacular 832-mile “route one” ring-road starting with the blue lagoon to the spectacular waterfalls!
5. Siem Reap, Cambodia
Siem Reap is a fast-growing city with plenty of new hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. But chances are, you’re here not because of the city itself, but for what’s nearby: amazingly well-preserved ancient temples. Even if you have the worst jet lag ever, drag yourself out of bed to be at Angkor archaeological Park when it opens—sunrise over Angkor Wat is worth losing sleep over.
6. Paris, France
It’s hard to compile a travel destination list and not have Paris on ii!Everyone who visits Paris for the first time probably has the same punchlist of major attractions to hit: The Louvre, Notre Dame, The Eiffel Tower, etc. Just make sure you leave some time to wander the city’s grand boulevards and eat in as many cafes, bistros and brasseries as possible. And don’t forget the shopping—whether your tastes run to Louis Vuitton or Les Puces (the flea market), you can find it here.
7. Prague, Czech Republic
It’s a grand city with extraordinary historic and cultural sights, and it’s definitely worth a visit. The often-rebuilt Prague Castle has overlooked the city since the 9th century, and the synagogues and cemetery of the Jewish Quarter are must-sees. Nightlife here is diverse and plentiful, from trendy clubs to sophisticated wine bars to late-night cellar bars.
8. Cancun, Mexico
Cancún is a great place to experience 21st-century Mexico, because it has everything you’d want in a vacation: shopping, sports, spas, and beaches. Here you’ll find five-star resorts, exceptional food, Mexican culture, and natural beauty within minutes of the world-famous Mayan ruins – Chichen Itza
Peru is a country of many wonders, from the wonder of the world Machu Picchu to the awe-inspiring Colca canyon. It has a unique cultural heritage with the centuries old Incan empire to the more recent Spanish colonists. Visit this amazing country and it definitely will be a trip to remember for your lifetime!
Phuket is a true island paradise in every sense of the word! Its beaches have white powdery sand and crystal clear waters that’s warm and inviting. Its super convenient to reach with the visa on arrival for Indians. Its world famous beaches include Phi Phi and James Bond beach (haha…not kidding that’s the actual name!)[/vc_column][/vc_row]
